What to check before you buy

• Wired vs wireless: Wired IEMs are simpler and cheaper with no signal dropout risk. Wireless systems free the performer to move around the stage but need a transmitter and battery management.
• Number of drivers: More drivers per earpiece generally means clearer separation between vocals, bass, and instruments, though single-driver units are lighter and more affordable for casual use.
• Fit and isolation: A proper seal blocks outside stage noise, letting performers hear their own mix clearly even at loud volume.
