Worth knowing before you buy

Check the IPX rating against how you will use it. IPX4 resists splashes and light rain — fine for a picnic or a kitchen counter. IPX6 handles heavy rain and poolside spray. If the speaker might actually fall in water, look for IPX7.

Small speakers cannot produce deep bass. Physics decides that, not tuning. A compact speaker that claims heavy bass is boosting the mid-bass instead, which sounds impressive briefly and tiring over an afternoon. For portability, that trade is usually worth making.
