What to check before you buy

Wired vs wireless: Wired lavaliers are simpler and cheaper, plugging directly into a camera or recorder. Wireless systems free the subject from a cable but need a receiver and battery management.
Single vs dual channel: Interviewing two people at once needs a dual-channel wireless system, not two separate single mics competing for the same receiver.
Range: Wireless range matters for stage or classroom use where the presenter moves around; check the meter rating against your actual space.

Is a lapel mic the same as a lavalier mic?

Yes, the two names refer to the same small clip-on microphone. "Lapel" comes from where it is usually clipped, and "lavalier" comes from the pendant-style necklace the first versions resembled.

Which wireless lapel mic works with an iPhone or Android phone?

Any system with a receiver that matches your phone's port will work. iPhone 15 and later and most Android phones use USB-C, while older iPhones use Lightning, so check which connector the receiver ships with. Kits such as the DJI Mic Mini, the BOYA V series and the XTUGA J13 and K9 are made for direct phone recording.

Do I need a dual-channel system for interviews?

Yes, if you want each person on their own mic. A two-transmitter kit such as the DJI Mic 3, DJI Mic Mini 2 or SYNCO G2 Pro records both speakers through one receiver, which keeps a two-person interview or podcast clean without a second setup.

Can a lapel mic make my voice louder in a classroom or event?

Only when it feeds a speaker or amplifier. Most wireless lapel kits are built for recording to a phone or camera, so for voice projection look at a headset voice amplifier like the Maono E388, or pair a wireless mic with a system from our amplifiers and mixers. For meeting rooms, a conference microphone system is the better fit.
