EJEAS is a Chinese wireless communication brand established in 2005, serving customers in over 100 countries. It specialises in Bluetooth intercom systems — for motorcycling, skiing, refereeing and industrial use.

A motorcycle intercom mounts inside the helmet and connects riders to each other, to a pillion, and to a phone — so navigation prompts, calls and conversation happen without stopping or removing a helmet.

What a helmet intercom changes

• Group rides — talking to other riders instead of relying on hand signals
• Rider and pillion — normal conversation at speed, over engine and wind noise
• Navigation — turn-by-turn directions in your ear rather than glancing at a phone

Worth knowing before you buy

Range figures are line-of-sight. A system rated 1500m achieves that on an open road with nothing in between. In traffic, around buildings or through a convoy, expect considerably less.

Count the riders. Sets are sold by the number of headsets and the number of people who can talk at once. Buying a pair and later wanting a group of four usually means buying again.

Waterproofing is not optional here. A helmet unit will meet rain sooner rather than later during wet season, so check the rating rather than assuming.
