How to choose the right portable power station

• Capacity (Wh) decides how long it lasts. Add up the watts of what you want to run, multiply by the hours you need, then add about 20% for inverter losses. For example, a 500Wh unit runs a 50W electric fan for roughly 8 hours. How big a power station do you need?
• Output (W) decides what it can run at once. The rated AC output has to be higher than everything plugged in at the same time. Fridges, pumps and aircons also need surge headroom when they start. Check the surge rating.

Can a portable power station run an aircon?
