CATLINK was founded in December 2017 and built the world's first intelligent cat litter box that monitors feline health data. It has since expanded into smart feeders, water fountains, grooming tools and pet dryers.
Its distinguishing capability is individual cat recognition. Using RFID collar tags, a CATLINK litter box or feeder can tell your cats apart, so weight, visit frequency and eating patterns are tracked per cat rather than lumped together. Worth knowing before you buy
Check your cat's weight against the model's range. Sensor-based litter boxes need a cat heavy enough to trigger detection reliably. Kittens and very small cats should not use automatic mode unless the model states it is safe for them.
Measure the space. Automatic boxes are considerably larger than a tray, and need clearance for the waste drawer and for your cat to enter comfortably.
Allow a transition period. Some cats take to a new box immediately, others need a week or two with the old tray still available nearby.

Are automatic litter boxes safe for cats?
Modern boxes from established brands are safe for most adult cats. The safety comes from layered sensors that stop and reverse the cleaning cycle when a cat is detected, and from a design that lets a cat leave at any point in the cycle. The real risks are kittens too light to trigger sensors, and cheap unbranded units with weak detection.
Is my cat big enough to use one?
Check your cat's weight against the model's stated range before buying. Sensor-based boxes need a cat heavy enough to be detected reliably, so kittens and very small cats should not use automatic mode unless the model specifically says it is safe for them. Supervise the first few days regardless.
What if my cat refuses to use it?

Which litter works with a CATLINK box?
Clumping litter is required, since the sifting mechanism relies on waste holding together. CATLINK Cassava and Mars 2.0 are made for these units. If you use tofu or pellet litter, check the model's sifter compatibility first, as particle size matters.
How does it tell my cats apart?

Will it keep working during a brownout?
The cleaning cycle needs mains power. During an outage the box functions as a normal litter tray, which is fine short-term, and resumes automatically when power returns. Smart features and app connection need both power and internet.
