If you want the classic film look and a camera to carry around, get the ₱5,599 Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 Oriental Pop bundle. If you would rather print the best shots from your phone, a portable printer like the ₱5,399 HPRT CP2100 is more flexible. The ₱4,399 HPRT Z5 does both: it shoots and prints.
Printed photos are back. Filipinos print for birthdays, debuts, weddings, barkada trips and photo walls, and there are two easy ways to do it without a photo shop: an instant camera that prints the moment you shoot, or a small printer that prints from your phone. This guide compares the cameras and printers we stock with live prices, and explains the running costs.
Instant camera or photo printer: which should I buy?
Choose an instant camera if the fun is in shooting and getting one unique print on the spot. Choose a photo printer if you want to pick, edit and print your best phone photos, and print copies for friends.
An instant camera like the Instax Mini 12 uses self-developing film, so every shot becomes a print, including the bad ones. A printer like the HPRT CP2100 lets you choose and edit first, so you only pay for photos you keep.
How much does Instax Mini film cost per shot?
Plain Fujifilm Instax Mini film is ₱599 for a 10-sheet pack at VMI Direct, about ₱60 per photo. Design films such as Pink Lemonade and Spray Art cost ₱649 per 10-sheet pack, about ₱65 per photo.
Instax Mini film fits all Instax Mini cameras, including the Mini 12, and prints credit-card-size photos. Store packs in a cool, dry place and avoid leaving them in a hot car.
Which instant camera is best for beginners?
The Fujifilm Instax Mini 12. It sets shutter speed and flash automatically, you twist the lens to turn it on, and a second twist switches to close-up mode for 30 to 50 cm selfies and food shots.
The limited-edition Oriental Pop bundle at ₱5,599 includes the camera, a 10-shot pack of film, a tote bag, postcards, washi tapes and acrylic cases, which makes it an easy gift. For a hybrid with a screen, the Instax Mini LiPlay at ₱8,239 lets you choose which shots to print and can add a sound QR code to a photo.
What is the HPRT Z5 instant print camera?
The HPRT Z5 and Z5s are digital cameras with a built-in dye-sublimation printer. Snap a photo and it prints in colour within seconds at 300 dpi, about 50 x 76 mm. They also print photos from your phone over Bluetooth.
The HPRT Z5 costs ₱4,399 and the Z5s ₱4,999, in pink or yellow. Prints are waterproof, dustproof and fingerprint-resistant, and refill paper and ribbon packs cost ₱490.

What is the difference between ZINK and dye-sublimation printing?
ZINK paper has colour crystals inside that heat activates, so there is no ink or ribbon, and prints double as stickers. Dye-sublimation uses a ribbon to transfer colour, which usually gives smoother colour and a protective coating.
The HPRT MT-53 uses ZINK sticky paper, handy for planners and scrapbooks. The CP2100 and Z5 use dye-sublimation cartridges that combine paper and ribbon, so you replace one pack at a time.
What about the Kodak Charmera?
The Kodak Charmera is a thumb-sized keychain digital camera, not an instant camera. It shoots 1.6MP photos and video to a microSD card, sold separately, and comes in blind boxes with seven vintage-style designs.
At ₱2,450, the Kodak Charmera is a collectible and a fun gift rather than a printing camera. Pair it with a phone printer if you want prints of its retro-style shots.
