The short answer
To set up a V380 Pro camera, install the V380 Pro app, tap +, scan the QR code on the camera and connect it to your 2.4GHz WiFi. To reset it, hold the reset button for 5 to 10 seconds until you hear a voice prompt. To view it on a PC, run the app on your computer through the V380 PC client or an Android emulator.
Most V380 problems come down to three things: a 5GHz WiFi network, a forgotten device password, or a camera that needs a reset. This guide covers all three. It applies to the V380 Pro E27B 4MP dome camera (₱860) and the V380 Q8 outdoor PTZ camera (₱789), and to most other cameras that use the V380 or V380 Pro app.
Before you start
- 2.4GHz WiFi only. V380 cameras do not connect to 5GHz networks. If your router broadcasts one combined network name, switch on its separate 2.4GHz band, or turn off 5GHz while you pair.
- Know your WiFi password. A wrong password is the most common reason pairing fails.
- Stay close to the router. Do the first setup within a few metres of the router, then move the camera to its final spot.
- Insert the microSD card first, with the camera unplugged. A Class 10 card from 32GB to 128GB works. Format it in the app before you rely on it.
How do I set up a V380 Pro camera on my phone?
Install the free V380 Pro app, create an account, tap the + icon and scan the QR code on the camera. Choose WiFi setup, enter your 2.4GHz WiFi password, wait for the "WiFi connected" voice prompt, then name the camera and set a device password.
- Download V380 Pro from Google Play or the App Store and register with your phone number or email.
- Plug in the camera and wait about a minute for it to start. Many models say a voice prompt such as "Access point established" or "Hotspot is ready".
- In the app, tap + in the upper right and scan the QR code on the camera body or box.
- If the app asks for a connection method, choose the WiFi or AP hotspot option. With the AP method, your phone joins the camera's own hotspot (named MV followed by numbers), then you return to the app.
- Pick your 2.4GHz WiFi and enter its password. Wait for the camera to say "WiFi connected".
- Name the camera (for example "Gate" or "Sala"), tap Finish and set a device password. Write it down somewhere safe.
If you never hear "WiFi connecting" or "WiFi connected", the WiFi password was most likely typed wrong. Reset the camera and try again.
How do I reset a V380 Pro camera?
Keep the camera powered on, then press and hold the reset button for about 5 to 10 seconds until you hear a voice prompt or reset tone. The camera restarts in pairing mode and has to be added again in the V380 Pro app.
- The reset button is a small hole or button, usually on the bottom, the back or under the lens. Use a SIM-ejector pin or paperclip if it is recessed.
- Reset after you change your WiFi name or password, if you forgot the device password, or if the app shows the camera offline for a long time.
- A reset clears the WiFi and password settings. Recordings already saved on the microSD card stay on the card.
How do I connect the V380 Pro to new WiFi?
A V380 camera only remembers one WiFi network. After you change routers, WiFi names or passwords, reset the camera, delete the old entry in the app, then add it again with the + icon using the new 2.4GHz network.
What is the V380 Pro admin password?
The V380 Pro asks you to create your own device password during setup, so there is no universal admin password. Some older V380 models shipped with a simple factory default. If you forget your password, reset the camera and set a new one.
- Use a password nobody can guess. A camera with a default or simple password can be viewed by anyone who finds its device ID.
- One account can view the camera from one place at a time. To share with family, use the share option in the app instead of giving out your login.
How do I view my V380 Pro camera on a PC or laptop?
There are two ways. Install the V380 PC client on Windows and add the camera by LAN search or device ID, or run the V380 Pro phone app on your computer through an Android emulator such as BlueStacks or MEmu and log in with your account.
- V380 PC client: click Add device. Use LAN search if the computer is on the same WiFi as the camera, or add it manually by its device ID (the number on the camera label and in the app). Double-click the camera name for live view, or open Replay for playback.
- Android emulator: install the emulator, open the Play Store inside it, install V380 Pro and sign in with the same account. Your cameras appear just like on your phone.
- Watching saved clips: to copy recordings, power off the camera, take out the microSD card and read it with a card reader. Open the files in VLC Media Player, because the default Windows player may not play the video format.
Download PC software only from the official app developer or a trusted emulator site. Unofficial "V380 for PC" downloads are a common way to get malware.
Does the V380 record without internet?
Yes. With a microSD card inside, the camera keeps recording as long as it has power, even if the internet is down. You only need internet to watch the camera remotely, receive motion alerts and use cloud storage.
During a brownout, recording stops once the camera loses power, and remote viewing stops when the router goes off. Running both the camera and the router on a portable power station keeps them going.
V380 troubleshooting
- Camera will not pair: check that you are on 2.4GHz, retype the WiFi password, move closer to the router and reset the camera.
- Camera shows offline: restart the router and the camera. If it stays offline, the WiFi settings changed, so reset the camera and add it again.
- No recordings in playback: format the microSD card in the app. If the error comes back, the card is too slow or fake, so replace it with a genuine Class 10 card.
- Video lags or freezes: the camera is too far from the router. Move the router closer or add a WiFi extender.
- Too many motion alerts: turn on humanoid (person) detection on cameras that support it, such as the E27B, so curtains, pets and headlights stop setting it off.
