Hubs, Switches, Bridges and Routers
Routing is the process of selecting a path for traffic in a network or between or across multiple networks.
A bridge is a device that links two separate LANs, whereas routers are utilized for both LAN and MAN connections. Bridges are useful for segmenting the networks and extending them, while Routers are useful for connecting faraway networks. Routers store the data and deliver them in the form of packers.
A router acts as an access point for all your internet enabled products. Its also the essential product which will create a wireless or wired home network.
A network bridge joins two separate computer networks. The network bridge enables communication between the two networks and provides a way for them to work as a single network.
The main goals of routing are: Correctness: The routing should be done properly and correctly so that the packets may reach their proper destination. Simplicity: The routing should be done in a simple manner so that the overhead is as low as possible.
